wmvsc youth mentorship program
Mission: To connect with youth who want to learn to ride but would otherwise not have the opportunity. We volunteer our time, talent, and horses to teach encourage and foster a love for riding and a respect for the horse.

We are very encouraged and thrilled that we have about 10 youngsters (and have had as many as 20) who can now ride with control and mostly tack and untack. In addition, four of our current and past Rodeo Royalty are a result of mentoring! You will be missing out if you bypass this great opportunity!
Youth:
- Ages 8 to 19
- Parent or guardian must complete and sign a waiver and application
- Youth must write an essay titled " Why I Want to Ride Horses"
- Any saddle club member with or without a horse ( some mentors bring multiple horses and extra helpers may be needed).
- Sign a memorandum of understanding for mentors
- Follow a basic format for instructing youth for continuity
- Adopt one or more youth as your personal mentee to provide additional ride time outside of scheduled rendevous for the entire group.
- Only gentle, responsive riding horses need apply :-)
- Every new horse must initially be ridden by the mentor in view of the Mentorship Director and be approved for use before a youth gets on.
- The 4th Sunday of the month from 1-4pm at Music Meadows Ranch. For directions go to www.musicmeadows.com.
- Roll forward to the following week in the event of weather cancellation and keep on rolling until we hit a good day.
- Cancel worthy weather includes: high winds at any temperature, bitter cold (way below zero), snow storm, thunder storms with lightning and/or heavy rain.
- Local papers. Articles once or twice a year with photos.
- Post rides in Tribune Ephemeris page
- School assemblies
- There is no fee to join the Youth Mentorship Program
- Please support the WMV Saddle Club by joining with a club membership
